Is there salvation in the middle and late stages of cervical cancer?

Although the cure rate of middle and late stage cervical cancer is low, active treatment can effectively prolong the survival period and improve the quality of life. Intermediate and advanced stage of cervical cancer refers to cervical cancer staged at stage IIB or above, and the tumor usually invades into the parietal uterus, pelvis or even beyond the true pelvis, and some of them will also have distant metastasis. It may be difficult to perform surgical resection in this period, but radiotherapy and chemotherapy can be chosen to improve the survival period. Through active treatment, the 5-year survival rate of middle and late stage cervical cancer can even reach 30%. However, it should be noted that if it is accompanied by distant metastasis, the survival period is generally shorter. Therefore, it is recommended that women get vaccinated against cervical cancer as early as possible and undergo regular cervical cancer screening for early detection and treatment.
