How to treat chronic periodontitis

The ultimate goal of chronic periodontitis treatment is the complete removal of plaque, tartar and other irritants, effective elimination of gum inflammation, shallowing of periodontal pockets and improvement of periodontal attachment levels, and striving for regeneration of dental tissue. The main objectives are plaque control, basic periodontal treatment, surgical treatment, and improvement of chewing function. 1, Plaque control: try to make the tooth surface with plaque only account for less than 20% of the total tooth surface. 2.Basic periodontal treatment: scaling to remove tartar on the gums and scraping to completely remove tartar under the gums. Root surface leveling scrapes away the diseased tooth bone to make the root surface level and smooth, which is conducive to the re-attachment of periodontal attachment tissue. 3.Surgical treatment: review the effect after 1-2 months of basic treatment, if there are still residual periodontal pockets greater than or equal to 5mm and bleeding on probing, or when encountering tartar that is difficult to remove, surgery can be used to treat chronic periodontitis. 4.Improve masticatory function: Establish a balanced occlusal relationship through ligature fixation and adjustment of loose teeth, so that the affected teeth become stable by eliminating occlusal trauma and improve masticatory function. Regular periodontal support treatment and review is one of the key conditions for the treatment of chronic periodontitis. Adhere to plaque control and regular review to prevent recurrence.
