The most common classification of myelodysplastic syndromes is the WHO classification.
1. Myelodysplastic syndromes with monogenic hematopoiesis without primitive cell proliferation are myelodysplastic syndromes with monogenic hematopoiesis; myelodysplastic syndromes with multilineage hematopoiesis are myelodysplastic syndromes with two- or three-lineage hematopoiesis without primitive cell proliferation;
2. Myelodysplastic syndrome with cyclic iron granulocytosis without primitive cellularity on bone marrow examination; myelodysplastic syndrome with primitive cellularity on bone marrow examination with primitive cellularity but less than 20%;
3. Myelodysplastic syndromes that cannot be categorized as above are classified as Myelodysplastic Syndromes – Unclassified.
It is recommended that the patient should consult the Department of Hematology in a timely manner, so that the specialist can clarify the specific type of the syndrome after comprehensive analysis based on the results of the bone marrow aspiration test, fusion gene and FISH test, and assess the degree of risk of the disease and formulate a treatment plan.
