What are the dangers of vascular sclerosis in the elderly?

The blood vessels of different organs can be involved. If the heart vessels are sclerotic there will be coronary heart disease with a risk of acute myocardial infarction; cerebral atherosclerosis with a risk of stroke; renal atherosclerotic stenosis with possible intractable hypertension and long-term stenosis with possible renal insufficiency; and progression of atheromatous plaques in the extremities with corresponding limb claudication and ulceration.
