Glioma growth rate

The growth rate of glioma mainly depends on the tumor grade. Clinically, according to the degree of malignancy, gliomas are classified into grade I, II, III and IV. The higher the grade, the faster the growth of tumor cells. Grade I and grade II gliomas grow relatively slowly. Before the tumor develops mesenchymal changes, it grows at a rate of about 4mm in diameter per year. Generally, when the tumor grows for 7 to 8 years, clinical symptoms begin to appear. Grade IV glioblastoma, is the most malignant and clinically common tumor. From the onset of the disease to the consultation, the average duration of the disease is only 3 months, and its tumor growth rate is very rapid. In some patients, if intratumoral hemorrhage or cystic degeneration occurs, the volume of glioma can increase rapidly within 1~2 days or a few hours, and appear similar to the manifestation of acute cerebrovascular disease. Therefore, if glioma is found, it is necessary to consult the doctor in time, complete the examination, make a clear diagnosis, and standardize the treatment under the guidance of professional doctors.
