How to treat convulsions caused by high fever in children

Fever-induced convulsions in children are medically called febrile convulsions, which usually occur in diseases such as upper respiratory tract infections. Febrile convulsions are associated with a sudden rise in body temperature in febrile illnesses and are the most common convulsive illness in pediatrics, slightly more in males than females, with the majority of children not having further seizures after the age of 5. For simple febrile convulsions, only the primary disease needs to be dealt with, the application of antipyretic drugs and other physical cooling measures, antipyretic drugs generally choose ibuprofen suspension, which is commonly used Merlin, for children with a tendency to relapse, you can use diazepam or commonly known as Valium at the beginning of the child’s fever, which needs to be applied under the guidance of a doctor for 2-3 days or until the temperature of the primary disease causing the febrile convulsions returns to normal. The temperature of the original cause of the febrile convulsion returns to normal. For complex febrile convulsions or the total number of seizures has reached more than 5, oral diazepam can not prevent new seizures, can be long-term oral sodium valproate, the course of 1 to 2 years. In practice when encountering children with fever-induced convulsions, the first thing is to immediately use 5% chloral hydrate enema and other treatments to control the convulsions as soon as possible, in the meantime keep the airway open, give the child antipyretic drugs, and then actively treat the cause of the disease, and try not to give the child a needle prick human and other irritating operations. Pediatric fever-induced convulsions are pediatric emergencies, and children with such disorders must usually enhance their physical fitness, prevent fever, and once the fever appears and the body temperature reaches 38 degrees, it is necessary to take antipyretic drugs as soon as possible to try to control the body temperature and avoid the occurrence of convulsions.
