What does big red kidney mean?

Large red kidney is commonly seen in acute diffuse proliferative glomerulonephritis, now also called intracapillary proliferative glomerulonephritis, which is commonly referred to as acute glomerulonephritis. Large red kidney is the description of the appearance of this type of nephritis, because with the naked eye you can see the kidneys increase in size bilaterally, the envelope is tense, and then you can see bleeding spots on the surface, so the kidneys take on a red color and are called large red kidneys. Large red kidney is often secondary to infection of the upper respiratory tract, and the common causative organism is streptococcus. Most patients with acute diffuse proliferative glomerulonephritis can heal on their own, and the large red kidney can also get better on its own. The general treatment is recommended to be mainly symptomatic treatment and rest, most patients will improve on their own, a few patients may be transformed into chronic nephritis.
