How to do surgery with ribs in the lungs

Lung surgery with rib interference requires rib amputation as well as some interfering muscles, which is a traditional open procedure that usually involves a 20-30 cm incision in the posterior axillary line on the side, so the patient suffers a lot of postoperative pain. For example, traditional resection of alveoli and tuberculosis cavities or destroyed lungs, as well as resection of lung cancer require removal of the rib cage followed by resection of lung tissue or lobes. However, with the development of medical treatment, the traditional open-chest surgery is less frequently used, but mainly thoracoscopy is used to perform the surgery, which is similar to laparoscopy in that several holes are made in the chest wall and then the chest cavity is entered, thus eliminating the need for extensive damage to the ribs and intercostal muscles and requiring only a few small incisions to complete the surgery. The damage is also smaller and less painful.
