The effects of Xianhe Cao include astringency and hemostasis (treating bleeding disorders with medicines that have astringent effects), arresting malaria, stopping dysentery, detoxifying, and tonifying deficiency. It is used for hemoptysis, vomiting blood, bleeding (excessive menstrual flow or dripping), malaria, dysentery, carbuncle, sores and poison, itchy vagina, and labor injury. Xianhe Cao is an astringent and hemostatic medicine, bitter, astringent and flat in nature, which belongs to heart and liver meridians. It is mainly used in treating various bleeding conditions such as coughing up blood, vomiting blood, urinating blood, etc.; malaria with high fever and chills; dysentery and diarrhea with blood-colored mucus and diarrhea of prolonged illness; carbuncle sores and poisons; itching of yin and abnormal leukorrhoea; and weakness and fatigue due to over exertion (mental exhaustion and physical weakness). Xianhecao can be combined with Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata to clear blood-heat and enhance the effect of stopping bleeding; and with Fructus Jujubae to enhance the effect of tonifying deficiency. The adverse effects of this product are not clear, non-bleeding people do not use, allergic to this drug is prohibited.
