Why is “hemianesthesia” a common choice for cesarean sections?

Semi-corporeal anesthesia (including epidural anesthesia, lumbar anesthesia and lumbar-hard joint anesthesia) is the commonly used anesthesia method for cesarean section at home and abroad. The advantages are that the effect of anesthesia is accurate, the anesthetic level and blood pressure are easy to control, the effect of muscle relaxation can meet the needs of surgery, and there is no direct inhibition of fetal respiration and circulation. It is also convenient for postoperative analgesia. In contrast, general anesthesia can eliminate maternal tension and fear, but due to the relative complexity of anesthesia operation, obvious inhibition of neonatal respiration and circulation, the mother is prone to vomiting and aspiration, and it is only used when there is a contraindication to hemianesthesia or emergency cesarean section.
