How to perform female catheterization

Female catheterization is simpler and easier to perform compared to men. Because the urethra of women is closer to the vagina, and during catheterization especially for those who have just entered the workplace, it is easy to insert the catheter into the vagina, or the urethra of women is thinner and narrower, so it is easy for the catheter to slip into the vagina and they are unaware of it, which can cause the failure of catheterization. When women catheterize, they need to spread their legs completely, make sure to expose the urethra in the perineal area of women, disinfect the laying of towels, separate the labia majora to find the outer opening of the urethra, apply lubricating fluid to the catheter, insert it slowly from the outer opening of the urethra after 10cm, if there is an obvious outflow of urine exactly in the bladder, inflate the balloon and slowly pump back. When the catheter can no longer be pumped back, the catheter bag is connected and the catheterization is successful.
