What is erythrodermic psoriasis

Erythrodermic psoriasis is a skin disorder characterized by large red flakes of skin all over the body with itching, and is the more severe type of psoriasis. Erythrodermic psoriasis is caused by the development of psoriasis vulgaris. Many cases are caused by improper treatment of psoriasis vulgaris, abuse of hormones, or eating too much spicy and stimulating food or drinking alcohol during the onset of psoriasis. The main symptom of erythrodermic psoriasis is diffuse erythema all over the body, which accounts for more than 90% of the body surface area, often accompanied by intense itching, chills (fear of cold), nail changes and other symptoms, and due to the deterioration of the skin barrier function, often causing generalized fever. The treatment of erythrodermic psoriasis is mainly based on support, symptomatic protein supplementation and keeping the skin moist. Oral medications such as compound glycyrrhizin tablets and Avicenna capsules can be taken, and biologics such as stuccochilizumab can be administered if necessary. It is recommended that patients with erythrodermic psoriasis should consult the hospital in time and follow the doctor’s instructions.
