There are several types of distal gastric surgery

There are three main types of distal gastric surgery: Bierroth’s Ⅰ, Ⅱ and gastro-jejunostomy. 1. Bierroth’s type I: It is also known as most of the stomach resection duodenal anastomosis. It refers to resecting most of the stomach and then anastomosing the remaining stomach to the duodenum. The advantage of this surgery is that it is more in line with the physiological state of normal anatomy. 2. Bierroth’s type II: also known as gastric resection jejunoileal anastomosis. It refers to the closure of the severed end of the duodenum and the anastomosis between the stomach and the jejunum, which is divided into two modes according to the anastomosis site: pre-colonic and post-colonic. The advantage of this surgery is that it has fewer postoperative complications. 3. Gastro-jejunal anastomosis: after most of the distal stomach is resected, the duodenum is closed at the severed end, and the residual stomach is anastomosed with the distal jejunum. The advantage of this procedure is the prevention of bile and pancreatic reflux.
