Can rheumatic polymyalgia heal itself?

Rheumatic polymyalgia is generally not self-healing. Rheumatic polymyalgia is a clinical syndrome characterized by pain and stiffness in the proximal muscles of the extremities, accompanied by systemic symptoms such as fatigue, low-grade fever, weight loss, and increased blood sedimentation rate, and is most common in the elderly. The exact cause of rheumatic polymyalgia is unknown, and it is related to age, environmental factors and genetic factors. Rheumatic polymyalgia cannot be cured by itself, but patients can be relieved in about 1~2 years through active and standardized treatment. The treatment of rheumatic polymyalgia is based on non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as Loxoprofen sodium and glucocorticosteroid medications such as prednisone and methylprednisolone. The medications should be taken under the supervision of a physician. It is recommended that patients with rheumatic polymyalgia go to the rheumatology and immunology departments of regular hospitals for detailed consultation and standardized treatment according to the doctor’s instructions.
