Small bowel intussusception can gradually return to normal diet from liquid diet after 2 to 3 hours of self-healing.
Small bowel intussusception is a condition in which a part of the bowel and its nearby mesentery is inserted into the nearby intestinal lumen, which can be seen as ”concentric circles” or ”target ring” sign on ultrasound. In some children, the intestines can be repositioned on their own due to position changes. After 2-3 hours of self relocation, children can eat some juice, millet porridge and other liquid food.
If there is no vomiting or abdominal pain after consumption, the child can gradually transition to semi-liquid diet and normal diet, and avoid greasy, cold and spicy diet.
Once the symptoms of intussusception appear, the child should be fasted and go to the hospital immediately for early diagnosis, early treatment and early recovery.
