According to the size of the eardrum perforation to determine the operation style, including cauterization method, scraping paste method, full flip lining method, etc..
1. Cauterization method: applicable to smaller perforations, firstly, cotton pads with bupivacaine solution are applied to the surface of the remaining eardrum. After that, ethanol is used to sterilize the external auditory canal and the remaining eardrum. Then use trichloroacetic acid solution to apply to the edge of the perforation, which can make the edge of the perforation appear white cauterized circle, prompting the regeneration of the eardrum.
2. Scrape and stick method: Apply a wet cotton pad with bupivacaine to the surface of the remaining tympanic membrane and disinfect the external auditory canal and tympanic membrane surface. The epithelium at the edge of the perforation is scraped off with a long thin needle, and a thin cotton sheet soaked with urea solution is applied after scraping cleanly.
3. Full flap lining method: Separate the skin of the external auditory canal at the location of the intraauricular incision, scrape clean the epithelium at the edge of the perforation, and loosen the fibrous tympanic ring. The temporalis muscle fascia is trimmed and laid on top of the grafted tissue, and the external auditory canal can be filled in after it is laid.
After perforation of the eardrum, it is recommended that the patient seek medical attention to check the condition and standardize the treatment to avoid aggravation of the condition.
