What causes white spots in fingernails

White spots on fingernails may be caused by pathological factors such as lack of micronutrients, pitting leukoplakia, fungal infections, trauma and other diseases.
1. Lack of micronutrients: calcium and zinc deficiency may affect the function of the nail matrix cells at the root of the nail, leading to abnormal synthesis of the nail plate and further causing white spots on the fingernails.
2. Punctate white nail disease: when the matrix cells of the nail cannot keratinize normally, some white spots will appear on the nail.
3. Fungal infection: Fungal infection of the nail plate can make the nail plate appear white spots or white spots, which may then cause unevenness and breakage of the nail plate.
4. Trauma: If the nail surface of the fingernail encounters hard objects or is squeezed and rubbed, it may cause damage to the nail matrix, which may be manifested as white spots on the fingernail.
5. Other diseases: such as psoriasis, periungual eczema and other skin diseases may affect the dysfunction of the nail matrix, thus causing white spots on the nails.
If the above symptoms occur, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time to find out the cause of white spots on nails, and then actively treat the symptoms to avoid delaying the condition.
