Difference between prostate enlargement and hypertrophy

Prostate enlargement and hypertrophy are actually the same disease and there is no essential difference between the two. Prostatic hyperplasia is a medical term, while prostatic hypertrophy is a more colloquial term. Prostatic hyperplasia is a common and frequent disease among middle-aged and elderly men, which mainly manifests itself in frequent urination, urinary urgency, and progressive urination difficulties. The incidence of prostatic hyperplasia increases with age, but clinical symptoms are not always present when hyperplastic lesions are present. Therefore, regular physical examination is recommended. Patients with prostate hyperplasia should pay attention to rest, prevent colds and flu, avoid spicy and stimulating food, and can do appropriate physical exercise.
