An unstraightened penis is most commonly seen in infants and young children as a symptom of congenital hypospadias. Congenital hypospadias causes the penis not to be straight because the penis has 3 spongy bodies, and of these 3 spongy bodies, 2 are penile spongy bodies and 1 is urethral spongy body. One of the urethral sponges is underdeveloped, while the 2 penile sponges are normally developed. So the urethral opening may open into the body of the penis, the perineum, and the scrotum. the 2 penile spongiosa then form a downward curvature, resulting in hypospadias and a non-straight penis. It must be treated surgically within 3 years of the child’s age. Surgery is more effective and does not affect future marriage or childbirth. In addition, the penis is not straight in adults, most commonly caused by masturbation, tight underwear, and other bad habits. So it is important to remove these causes as soon as possible. If the penis is not straight, as long as it does not exceed 30 degrees, then it will not affect sexual intercourse and urination and does not require treatment.
