Whether chronic pyelonephritis can be cured after three years is mainly related to whether the complicating factors of urinary tract infection can be removed or not, and whether there is any damage to kidney function. If the complicating factors are removed and there is no damage to renal function, the disease may be cured; if the complicating factors cannot be removed or irreversible damage to renal function occurs, the disease usually cannot be cured. In chronic pyelonephritis, there may be some complicating factors of urinary tract infection, such as urinary stones, urinary tract malformation, diabetes mellitus, or hormone use leading to decreased immunity, etc. If the complicating factors are actively corrected, chronic pyelonephritis may be cured. However, if the renal function has been impaired, and the imaging shows that the shape of the kidney is uneven, the size of both kidneys is unequal, and the intravenous pyelogram shows that the renal pelvis and renal calyces are deformed and narrowed, it is usually not curable. Patients with chronic pyelonephritis are advised to go to regular hospitals in time and receive standardized treatment under the guidance of doctors.
