How long does a tubal angiogram take?

The fallopian tubes play an important role in a woman’s ability to have a normal pregnancy, as a channel for transporting the egg and the fertilized egg. However, this channel is very fragile and can easily become blocked. The most common cause of tubal blockage is chronic tubal infection, followed by pelvic inflammatory disease and endometriosis. Tubal imaging is a simple, economical and less invasive way to check for tubal blockage. It is usually performed 3-7 days after menstruation. The principle is to use the diffusion of the contrast agent in the fallopian tubes to find out whether the tubes are open or not. If the contrast diffuses well, the tubes are open. If the fallopian tubes are not open, the next step of treatment, such as a guide wire intervention, is needed. The time required for tubal imaging is not long, from the time the doctor starts to prepare the instruments to the time the contrast is pushed, to the time the contrast is diffused, to the time the film is taken, which is about 12-15 minutes. During the procedure, the patient may feel pain in the abdomen, but most of them can tolerate it. Anti-inflammatory treatment is usually required for three days after the imaging procedure. Sexual intercourse is prohibited for 15 days. Avoid heavy physical labor. Eat a light diet with protein-rich foods. Blocked fallopian tubes cause many women to be unable to conceive, so female patients must treat gynecological inflammation in a timely manner, no matter what, prevention is the most important inside any disease.
