What does heart failure mean?

Heart failure is a clinical manifestation caused by a decrease in the pumping function of the heart. Abnormalities in the structure and function of the heart are the basis for the development of the disease, which can be manifested as insufficient blood supply in the arterial system and stagnation in the venous system. The heart is the pump of blood circulation, and is the main power source of blood circulation in the human body. Various reasons can lead to a decline in the pump function of the heart, such as systolic and diastolic functions can be affected, so that the ejection volume of the heart decreases, the arterial system is not sufficiently perfused with blood, and hypoxia occurs in the tissues and organs, accompanied by stagnant blood in the venous system. Structural abnormalities of the heart are a common cause of heart failure, such as enlarged ventricles and valvular insufficiency. Structural abnormalities lead to reduced heart function, decreased pumping power, and symptoms related to heart failure. Most patients have predominantly left heart failure, which can present with pulmonary stasis manifesting as dyspnea. Right heart failure will lead to venous system bruising, manifesting as lower extremity edema, pleural effusion, gastrointestinal bruising, etc. Heart failure is a serious disease, the onset of the disease should be timely to the hospital, under the guidance of physicians to give regular treatment.
