What happens when your water breaks?

Rupture of amniotic fluid is called rupture of membranes. Rupture of membranes includes rupture of membranes before labor and rupture of membranes after labor. 1. Rupture of membranes before labor: premature rupture of membranes. It is usually caused by infection, nutrient deficiency, trauma and other factors. Clinical manifestation is painless vaginal discharge of large amount of fluid. Ultrasound shows a sharp decrease in amniotic fluid volume, which can assist in the diagnosis. Premature rupture of membranes can cause adverse consequences to both mother and child, and should be treated promptly. 2. Fetal membrane rupture after labor: after the articulation of the prenatal part of the fetus, when the pressure in the amniotic cavity increases during uterine contraction, the fetal membranes will rupture naturally, and amniotic fluid can be seen to flow out. The rupture of membranes occurs before the opening of the uterus. Labor may continue and wait for the beginning of the second stage of labor. Whichever the cause of amniotic fluid rupture, you should go to the hospital in time and be treated under the guidance of your doctor.
