Jiu Li Guang, also known as Qian Li Guang, is used medicinally for conditions such as carbuncles, sores and poisons (abscesses and infections of hair follicles and skin tissues), and is effective in clearing heat and detoxifying toxins, among other things.
Qianliguang is the dried above-ground part of the plant Qianliguang in the family of Asteraceae, which is bitter and cold in nature. It belongs to the lung meridian and liver meridian. It is effective in clearing away heat and removing toxins, inducing diuresis, and improving eyesight. It is used for eye redness and swelling pain, carbuncle and sores, cold and fever, skin eczema, diarrhea and dysentery.
Literature records that Qianliguang is used for sore throat, can be combined with ginseng, Platycodon grandiflorus, fleabane, licorice, decocted with water. For the treatment of wind-heat and cold, it can be combined with hexagonal fairy and wild chrysanthemum to be stewed in water. For the treatment of skin eczema, it can be combined with yellow chrysanthemum, honeysuckle and cedar leaf, decocted in water and washed externally.
