How to treat bunions

Bunion is most common in congenital developmental abnormality, as well as bunion trauma, inflammation and so on, and bunion deformity needs to be given orthopedic treatment, which is divided into external fixation orthopedics, soft tissue release and arthroplasty according to the severity of the deformity. 1. External Fixation Orthopedics: It is mainly applied to the early stage of hallux valgus which has not yet been formed, and elastic bandage can be used to fix the forefoot, so that the bunion will be turned out by 10 to 15 degrees, and the duration is mostly 4 to 6 weeks. 2. Soft Tissue Release: For bunion deformity lasting more than 2 months, soft tissue release can be considered. The soft tissues on the inner side can be released, and the bunion can be fixed with a Kirschner’s needle in a valgus position of 10-15 degrees for about 6 weeks. 3. Arthroplasty: When the bunion deformity has been fixed, metatarsophalangeal joint fixation or osteotomy of the proximal phalanx of the bunion is needed. Specific treatment needs to go to the hospital, complete the examination, clear condition, by professional doctors for the patient’s condition to give the appropriate treatment.
