Chinese patent medicines for hiccups include Mu Xiang Shun Qi Pill, Shu Liver and Stomach Pill, and Bao He Pill, but the specific medication should be decided by the doctor according to the patient’s condition. Gastric Su Granules, used for Qi stagnation type gastroepidermal pain, which is characterized by distension and pain in the stomach and epigastrium, spreading to both hypochondriums, being relieved by belching or farting, being aggravated by depression and anger, stuffiness in the chest with little food and poor defecation, and chronic gastritis with the above mentioned symptoms. Not recommended for pregnant women. Adverse reactions: occasional dry mouth, noisy (stomach similar to hunger, emptiness with burning sensation).
