Baby’s syndactyly split toes, established before learning to walk surgery

The baby’s parents asked if they should have the surgery now or wait until the baby is older. We generally recommend that the surgery be done early, preferably before the baby learns to walk, because there is a period of recovery after the surgery, and the baby will not be able to go down and bear weight after the surgery, but will not be able to bear weight for some time. There are several conditions that need to be met when a baby undergoes toe surgery, firstly, the baby must be in good health, and secondly, the baby must be at the right weight, usually above 6kg. Therefore, parents should not be too anxious to let their babies undergo surgery at the right time. Nowadays, we do not use implants for toe syndesmosis, we use artificial dermal induction without implantation technique.
