How to use the nasal washer

The main purpose of cleaning the nasal cavity with a washer is to use saline or homemade light saline to rinse the nasal cavity through a nasal washer. After putting the cleaning saline in the washer, the patient sits straight, tilts his head slightly forward, opens his mouth to breathe, plugs the olive head of the washer into the nostril of the side to be cleaned, fixes it with his hand, squeezes the balloon of the nasal washer with the other hand when the patient exhales, and rinses out the saline and nasal secretions from the other side. In principle, the side with the heavier lesion should be flushed first. When cleaning the nasal cavity with a washer, it is important not to use too much force to avoid the rinse entering the middle ear through the eustachian tube and causing acute suppurative otitis media.
