Acupuncture Treatment for Knee Pain

Recurrent knee pain or progressive knee dysfunction can be treated with acupuncture at the internal and external knee eyes, Yanglingquan, Liangqiu, Blood Sea, and Ahshi points (the points where acidity, numbness, distension, and pain are obvious), and can be combined with electroacupuncture and moxibustion. Acupuncture treatment must be performed by a professional physician, do not do acupuncture on your own. The treatment for knee pain is to soften the tendons and strengthen the bones, and to clear the channels and stop the pain. Selection of acupuncture points is based on local points and a yes point, commonly used points are inside and outside the knee eye, Yanglingquan, Liangqiu, Sea of Blood, a yes point and so on. Electroacupuncture can be added on the basis of acupuncture, or moxibustion. Local acupoints can also be used by penetrating method, such as external knee eye through internal knee eye, Yanglingquan through Yinlingquan, Liangqiu through Sea of Blood, and so on. When the patient is too hungry, fatigued, or mentally nervous, immediate needling is not appropriate. For those who are thin and weak, with deficiency of qi and blood, the needling technique should not be too strong, and try to choose the lying position. Skin infection, ulcers, scarring, or tumor areas, should not be needled. Acupuncture treatment should be carried out by a professional physician, and should not be done by oneself. If you have recurring knee pain and gradually develop knee mobility problems, you should consult a doctor in time.
