The clinical definition of orthopia is a refractive error between 50 degrees of myopia and 50 degrees of hyperopia. If it is more than 50 degrees of hyperopia it is called farsightedness and more than 50 degrees of myopia it is called myopia. Usually myopia is more common in today’s society, with 50-300 degrees of myopia being low myopia, 300-600 degrees being moderate myopia, and 600 degrees or more being high myopia. If there is myopia, especially in children, it is usually recommended to wear myopic glasses, if children do not wear myopic glasses it is easy to cause myopia to deepen. Adults who do not wear myopia glasses, especially if they drive or have a need to see at a distance, will experience a loss of vision and may even affect the safety of daily life. Therefore, if there is a refractive error in the eyes that causes vision loss, it is recommended to go to the hospital for optometry and glasses.
