Can children take painkillers?

The use of painkillers is not recommended for children, as they can mask the child’s true condition and increase the risk of missed or misdiagnosis. If the pain is so severe that it causes significant discomfort, temporary pain relief can be used to improve the child’s quality of life. If a child has a headache and body aches and pains associated with a high fever, the child may be treated with antipyretic medications, such as acetaminophen. If a child has a toothache or pain in other parts of the body, it can also be temporarily relieved with ibuprofen, which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that can provide pain relief with relatively few side effects.
