Do all breast cancers require chemotherapy after surgery?

Chemotherapy can prevent breast cancer recurrence and metastasis, especially for breast cancer patients with metastatic lymph nodes, poor grading and high malignancy, who are prone to recurrence and metastasis and need chemotherapy. Data from a 50-year post-operative breast cancer follow-up study showed that patients who had chemotherapy survived significantly longer than those who did not. However, not every breast cancer patient needs chemotherapy. Doctors will prescribe chemotherapy only when the patient has relevant chemotherapy indications such as lymph node metastasis, high malignancy and poor differentiation. To determine whether chemotherapy is needed, the patient needs to prepare the following things: First, reliable pathological examination results. Immunohistochemistry test results are complete, and based on this result, determine whether the patient should have chemotherapy. Second, the results of routine tests. The patient’s liver and kidney function, blood routine, urine routine, electrocardiogram, etc. need to be checked. Some special chemotherapy may also require further evaluation of the patient’s heart function, which requires echocardiography, etc. The following tips can help breast cancer patients to pass through this period smoothly. 1. During chemotherapy, breast cancer patients should pay attention to a reasonable diet to improve taste, nutrition and physical fitness. You should eat more blood-producing foods such as pig liver and bone broth, etc. You can also take some blood-producing health products such as Agaricus, red dates, etc. You can also take oral blood products, vitamin B4, etc. 2, can eat more to reduce the chemotherapy reaction to reduce vomiting food, such as fresh ginger juice, fresh juice, tomatoes, round-grained rice, fungus, Ganoderma lucidum, sunflower, etc.. 3, during chemotherapy if the patient’s appetite is poor, you can eat less and more meals, choose a light liquid food to replace the daily food. 4.Bone marrow suppression: It is the most common and most important adverse reaction, including white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets may be reduced, but the reduction of white blood cells (granulocytes) is the most common. Generally, the trough of myelosuppression after the application of chemotherapy regimen for breast cancer occurs on the 7th-10th day after chemotherapy, and there are cases where the decrease of granulocytes is found as early as on the 3rd-4th day, or as late as on the 14th day. Therefore, it is recommended that routine blood tests be performed on day 3/4 after chemotherapy, followed by routine blood tests and liver and kidney function tests on day 7/8 and again on day 11/12. If the leukocytes are below 3,000, the leukocytes should be injected for 3 consecutive days, and the dosage should be according to the doctor’s prescription. If the leukocytes are below 2,000 or combined with fever, the leukocytes should be injected with intravenous antibiotics to prevent infection. The decrease in granulocytes that occurs after two weeks is not much, usually a single dose of leukostasis injection can make the white blood cells granulocytes rise to normal. 5, heart damage: acute reactions include panic, rapid heart rate, chest tightness, etc., can mostly be self-relieved. Symptoms are more serious or combined with heart disease need to be treated accordingly. Chronic heart damage generally occurs 15-20 years after treatment, the incidence of 5-15%. 6, hair loss: many patients struggle with this problem, but there are no drugs on the market that can well prevent hair loss, and there are not many effective ways to deal with it. Generally after the end of chemotherapy for about six months will grow back new hair. Keep your mood relaxed, do not let the disease affect your mood, optimistic and positive attitude can improve the resistance and improve the prognosis of the disease. 7, chemotherapy period due to decreased resistance to pay special attention to prevent colds, etc., to strengthen the warmth, in chemotherapy 2-12 days with a mask. 8, chemotherapy interval to pay attention to intravenous cannula care. Generally, the intravenous cannula needs to be flushed with heparin dilution 1-2 times a week to prevent blockage, and the wound can be changed once a week. Note: The specific medication should be combined with clinical, by the doctor face-to-face guidance shall prevail.
