Compound Licorice Oral Liquid is not currently banned for sale, except that it is regulated and patients are not free to buy and use it, as its long-term use has too many side effects that may damage the heart and affect blood pressure.
Compound Licorice Oral Liquid is composed of licorice fluid extract, compound camphor tincture, glycerin and so on. It is mainly used to treat coughs caused by bronchitis, upper respiratory tract infections and colds. Note that pregnant women, people who are allergic to alcohol, and people who are allergic to the drug are not allowed to take it. There are more adverse reactions, including gastrointestinal discomfort, edema, palpitations (rapid heartbeat, often accompanied by panic), increased blood pressure, skin rashes and so on.
Taking large amounts of Compound Licorice Oral Liquid over a long period of time can lead to sodium retention, pseudoaldosteronism with hypokalemia, exacerbating the possibility of heart damage, and elevated blood pressure.
The hazards associated with Compound Licorice Oral Liquid are so great that this product is currently regulated and should not be purchased for use by patients.
