Effects of liraglutide

Liraglutide acts by stimulating insulin secretion and inhibiting glucagon secretion through activation of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptors in a glucose concentration-dependent manner, while increasing glucose uptake by muscle and adipose tissue and inhibiting hepatic glucose production to exert a hypoglycemic effect, as well as inhibiting gastric emptying and suppressing appetite. Liraglutide is a hypoglycemic drug. Adverse reactions such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea may occur during administration. The drug is contraindicated in people who are allergic to the components of the drug, in patients with a personal past or family history of medullary thyroid cancer, and in patients with type 2 multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome. Liraglutide needs to be used under the supervision of a doctor, following the doctor’s instructions and using the medication wisely.
