Hypocalcemic convulsions caused by vitamin D deficiency can be severe, with generalized spasms and involuntary jumping. Vitamin D deficiency occurs in childhood, long-term vitamin D deficiency can cause calcium and phosphorus metabolism disorders, the appearance of hypocalcemic convulsions, as well as bone softening, the appearance of square skull, “chicken chest”, O-shaped legs and other bone deformity changes. Long-term vitamin D deficiency causes a decrease in extracellular calcium ions and an increase in neuromuscular excitability, resulting in hypocalcemic convulsions. Low calcium convulsions of the whole body transverse muscle or smooth muscle can appear different degrees of spasm, the most common for the gastrocnemius muscle spasm, calf pain, often in the night attack. Severe hypocalcemic convulsions can cause generalized muscle spasms, involuntary jumping tremors, and airway spasms can cause respiratory distress. If the symptoms of low-calcium convulsions are mild, oral vitamin D and calcium carbonate can be taken to improve the symptoms; if the symptoms are serious, hospitalization is required, and intravenous calcium gluconate and vitamin D can be given to correct the low-calcium state and improve the symptoms. The symptoms of generalized throbbing should be consulted as soon as possible, and the treatment should be standardized according to the doctor’s instructions after the diagnosis is clear. The use of drugs must follow the doctor’s instructions, not blindly use their own drugs, so as not to cause adverse consequences.
