The accessory ear is a redundant tissue located in front of the ear screen, often on the line from the ear screen to the corner of the mouth, and is caused by the abnormal development of the first gill arch. Most of them also contain cartilage, some of which are connected to the ear cartilage, while others reach into the subcutaneous tissue of the cheek or are placed deep into the parotid fascia. If there is too much skin, it should be removed or a Z-plasty should be performed in order to receive a better cosmetic result.
