What is a secondary ear?

What is a parotoid ear? The paraglottis, also known as the ear flap, is caused by the abnormal development of the first gill arch. It is a redundant tissue of varying size and shape, and the cartilage may be present within the tissue, and the color of the skin does not differ from the surrounding area. The parotoid is a completely redundant part of the tissue and has nothing to do with hearing or balance. Although the parotoid cartilage can sometimes be connected to the ear cartilage and sometimes extends into the cheek tissue, it is a waste tissue that serves no purpose. There is no significant discomfort and no tendency for malignancy in the parotoid, but it does affect the aesthetics. They can be removed under local anesthesia, which is a relatively simple procedure with a good prognosis.
