Should I treat my ear? How to treat it?

After the baby was born, a small fleshy lump appeared in front of the ear, not painful, the baby did not feel, as the age, mothers can not sit down; baby smile up why the mouth is crooked? Both sides of the face is not symmetrical, this is what happened? In fact, the baby’s first gill arch development is abnormal, often accompanied by the appearance of the attached ear (small fleshy bumps). Do babies need treatment? What is an “appendage”? It is a redundant tissue located in front of the ear screen, often on the line from the ear screen to the corner of the mouth, and is caused by abnormal development of the first gill arch. Most of them also contain cartilage, some of which are connected to the ear cartilage, while others reach into the subcutaneous tissue of the cheek or deep into the parotid fascia. Aesthetically disfiguring ear appendages still need to be treated. The treatment is to remove the appendage and excise the cartilaginous tissue it contains and adjust the incision sutures appropriately. Patients with attached ears are often associated with ipsilateral facial dysplasia, so only the elevated portion of the cartilage can be removed when removing it, leaving the subcutaneous portion of the face intact to avoid aggravating the facial deformity. In the case of an appendage that is fused to the ear screen in front of the ear screen, it can be used to reconstruct the ear screen at the time of excision. Is it necessary to operate on an attached ear? No! It is completely unnecessary to treat an attached ear. It is a natural defect to have such a piece in front of the ear, and although it is not painful, most people request surgery because it affects their facial appearance. If there is also a fistula in front of the ear, there is usually no need to dig deeper into the cartilage. If there is a pulling abnormality in the face, surgery is recommended to adjust it, which is a more complicated procedure and requires a highly qualified and experienced surgeon to perform. If there is too much skin, it should be removed or a Z-plasty performed to achieve the desired cosmetic result. The scar will fade away a few days after surgery. If you decide to undergo treatment, you should prepare in advance. Do not take aspirin for two weeks before surgery, as it can reduce platelet clotting function; patients with hypertension and diabetes should inform the doctor of their condition during the initial consultation so that the doctor can confirm the surgical plan; make sure that you are in good health before surgery and that you are free from infectious diseases or other inflammatory diseases; women should avoid menstruation. Women should avoid menstruation, pregnancy and gestation. After ear surgery, there will be a one-week swelling recovery period. Patients should prevent sewage (when washing hair, showering, swimming) from entering the ear to avoid secondary infection in the surgical cavity. Pay attention to keeping warm and try not to catch a cold to avoid otitis media. If the facial palsy is complicated, the eyes cannot be closed tightly. To protect the cornea, diligent eye drops should be ordered during the day, and eye ointment and additional eye shields should be worn at night. If the baby has attached ears, I still recommend treating it before going to school. If the baby is treated too early, the parents will suffer if the baby does not cooperate. After the age of four, the baby hopes that there is no difference between himself and the children, and he already has an aesthetic point of view.
