Pregnancy while taking antidepressants has some effects.
Pregnancy while taking antidepressants can have an effect on the fetus and may cause miscarriage, low newborn weight, preterm delivery, birth defects (e.g., heart defects), and persistent pulmonary hypertension in the newborn. After delivery, withdrawal of some medications can also cause symptoms of agitation or feeding difficulties in the newborn.
If you become pregnant while taking antidepressants, it is advisable to seek the help of an obstetrician/gynecologist and a psychiatrist to weigh the pros and cons of continuing the pregnancy or terminating it, how the antidepressant should be used, and what the next step in treatment should be.
Please follow your doctor’s instructions when taking medication and do not take medication without authorization.
