Screening programs for oral cancer mainly include physical examination, laboratory examination, imaging examination and other programs.
1. Physical examination: usually a professional dentist conducts physical examination of the oral cavity, checking the condition of organs in the oral cavity, such as tongue, gums, palate and other parts of the mouth, knowing whether there are ulcers, tumors, etc., and observing their nature, size and activity to make preliminary judgment on the oral cavity.
2. Laboratory examination: mainly refers to tumor marker test, blood biochemistry immunology, pathology examination and so on. Among them, pathology examination is the gold standard for confirming oral cancer. If oral cancer is suspected during screening, pathology section examination should be performed in time to confirm the diagnosis of the disease.
3. Imaging examination: it mainly includes X-ray, ultrasound, CT and other items, which are used to observe whether there is a tumor and whether the tumor has metastasized.
