Grading of hemiplegia

Hemiplegia is primarily the weakness of the patient’s limbs, and limb weakness can be categorized into grades zero to five. Grade zero mainly means that the patient does not have any muscle contraction and is completely paralyzed. Grade I refers to the affected limb can have muscle contraction, but not able to move. Grade 2 is when the affected limb has muscle contractions and can be moved on the bed. Grade 3 is when the affected limb can move and resist being lifted off the bed, but the affected limb cannot resist resistance and will fall with a slight touch. Grade IV means that the affected limb can resist both gravity and resistance, but not strong resistance. Grade V refers to normal muscle strength.
