What are flocculent objects in urine?

Flocculent objects in urine may be: first, urinary tract infections, such as urethritis, cystitis or pyelonephritis, can occur with increased flocculent or feathery objects in urine, accompanied by cloudy urine, urinary frequency and urinary urgency. Most of them are formed by shedding mucosal epithelium of the urinary tract mixed with white blood cells in the urine or pus cells, etc. Routine urine laboratory tests and urine culture tests are needed to further confirm the diagnosis. Secondly, if a catheter, cystostomy tube or ureteral stent tube is left in place for a long time, flocculent material in urine can appear, mostly related to flocculent material formed on the wall of the tube by urine deposition, which needs to be removed from the tube and given anti-infective symptomatic treatment in a timely manner, and if necessary, flushing treatment of the relevant line is needed. Thirdly, if there are urinary tract stones, after extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy or after treatment with drugs such as lithotripsy, flocculent objects or granular objects can be excluded, which are mostly formed by fine debris mixed with exfoliated epithelium.
