The following recommendations are given to hypertensive patients during physical examination: 1. electrolytes, fasting blood glucose, 2-hour postprandial blood glucose, total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL, homocysteine, liver and kidney function, blood routine, alpha 3, urine routine, urine microprotein. 2. The following ancillary tests are available: 18-lead electrocardiogram, 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure, cardiac ultrasound with left heart function, carotid ultrasound, frontal and lateral chest radiograph, fundus artery examination. If secondary hypertension is to be ruled out, renal artery ultrasound, adrenal CT, cervical spine 4-dimensional film, sleep apnea monitoring, cranial CT, and secondary hypertension series may be performed if necessary. Patients with hypertension, whether on medication or not, are recommended to have a health checkup every six months to a year to clarify the patient’s risk stratification, adjust medication in time, and determine the next treatment plan.
