If children have wind-cold cold, they can choose cupping treatment at Da Shi, Feng Men, Lung Yu and other acupoints.
In Chinese medicine, it is believed that wind-cold cold in children is due to the external wind-cold evil, and the clinical manifestations are based on coldness (fear of cold), fever, lack of sweating, headache, body pain, nasal discharge, sneezing, coughing, etc. Commonly used acupoints in the treatment include the large vertebrae, the wind gate, and the lungs, etc. The large vertebrae belongs to the dui chi, which is located in the spinal region of the neck.
Da Shi belongs to the acupuncture points on the Directing Vessel, located in the spine area of the neck, which can play a role in relieving the surface and dispersing cold (removing the cold from the surface of the muscle), and clearing heat and removing toxins (removing heat and toxins from the body). Fengmen and Lung Yu are points on the foot solar bladder meridian. Fengmen can relieve the surface and clear the collaterals, and Lung Yu can benefit the qi and tonify the lungs, relieve cough and resolve phlegm.
However, the specific cupping operation needs to be carried out under the guidance of the doctor’s diagnosis, and should be operated by the massage practitioner, not blindly operated by themselves.
