What to do if your child has gray nails

Gray nails are medically known as onychomycosis, and a child with onychomycosis can be treated with topical medications or systemic medications.
Onychomycosis is a fungal infection of the nail plate or subnail tissues caused by dermatophytes and yeast. If it is the distal lateral subnail type or the white superficial type, it is commonly treated with topical medications. After removing the diseased nail, topical antifungal preparations such as amorolfin and ketoconazole are used.
Systemic drug therapy is continuous oral terbinafine, or itraconazole intermittent shock therapy may be used. Oral medication can be combined with the use of topical antifungal medications such as amorolfine.
If your child has onychomycosis, it is recommended that you take your child to a regular hospital for treatment and standardize the treatment under the guidance of a doctor. The above medication should be used in accordance with the doctor’s instructions, do not self-medication.
