Mild mitral regurgitation may be caused by physiologic reasons, or it may be caused by infective endocarditis, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and other diseases, depending on the cause of the disease, it can be followed up and observed, treated with medication or surgery.
1. Physiological causes: calcification of the mitral valve leaflets due to ageing can lead to physiological mitral valve mild regurgitation, usually no obvious symptoms, can be temporarily without special treatment, only observation.
2. Infective endocarditis: Infective endocarditis can appear mitral valve damage caused by mitral valve mild regurgitation, the patient should rest, avoid exertion and strenuous exercise, the use of penicillin, ceftriaxone or vancomycin and other effective antibiotic treatment.
3. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy can also have slight mitral regurgitation, mainly using metoprolol, nifedipine and other drugs to reduce the left ventricular outflow tract obstruction, but also feasible interventional therapy or surgical treatment.
Slight mitral regurgitation can also be seen in other diseases, it is recommended that patients go to the hospital in a timely manner to improve the examination, to clarify the cause of the disease to give targeted treatment in a timely manner.
