Constipation is a common side effect of chemotherapy and should be prevented at the beginning of chemotherapy. Constipation is easily caused by toxic side effects of drugs or antiemetic drugs, and can cause intestinal obstruction in severe cases. You should drink more water to relax your intestines, warm and hot water are particularly effective. How to do constipation after chemotherapy? 1.Record your usual stool habits and tell your doctor and nurse so that you can easily diagnose constipation when it occurs. Drink plenty of water to soften the stool. Drinking warm liquids (such as tea and coffee) is very effective. Drinking fruit juice also helps. 3. Be more active. You can walk, ride a bicycle, do yoga. If you can’t get out of bed, you can also do some exercise in bed or in a wheelchair as much as you can. 4. Consult your doctor if you can increase your high fiber diet (except for oncology patients who are forbidden to eat high fiber food). Eating high fiber food and drinking more water can soften the stool. High fiber foods include whole wheat flour foods, cereals, beans, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and popcorn. 5. If constipated for 1-2 days, inform your doctor, who will give you medication to induce diarrhea or soften the stool.
