Most benign and some malignant breast nodules can be cured after medication and surgery; some malignant nodules are difficult to cure.
1. Benign breast nodules: most benign breast nodules can be cured after treatment, such as acute mastitis caused by breast nodules can be cured after taking antibiotics such as penicillin and incision and drainage after abscess formation; benign tumors such as mammary fibroma and intraductal papilloma can be cured after surgical excision.
A small number of benign breast nodules are easy to be prolonged, such as breast hyperplasia, which will have symptoms such as breast swelling and pain as well as lumps before and during each menstrual period.
2. Malignant breast nodules: clinically, the cure of malignant tumors is defined as no recurrence within 5 years after standardized treatment. According to this definition, some patients with earlier stage of breast cancer can be clinically cured after radical surgery, endocrine therapy, chemotherapy and other comprehensive treatments.
However, some types of breast cancer with late staging or poor prognosis are difficult to be cured, such as inflammatory breast cancer, breast cancer with distant metastasis, etc., which are prone to recurrence and metastasis even after surgery as well as radiotherapy and other treatments, and even affect survival.
It is recommended that patients with breast nodules should consult a doctor in time and choose the appropriate treatment under the doctor’s guidance.
