Is snoring a disease?

As we all know, snoring, which is also known as snoring, is the sound produced by airflow through the nasal and pharyngeal cavities during sleep. The frequency and size of the sound produced varies from person to person. The direct principle of snoring is the formation of airflow through the narrow airway vibrating the surrounding tissues. Simple snoring may not be the main problem affecting health, but if the airway is completely blocked during breathing, breathing will stop, and this should be given our high attention. Intermittent respiratory arrest during snoring becomes a disease, and we generally call it snoring disorder. Snoring has a professional name in medical science, called sleep apnea hypoventilation syndrome (OSAHS). It is a disease with recurrent episodes of apnea and hypoxemia as the main clinical features due to complete or most of the upper airway obstruction caused by collapse of pharyngeal and nasal tissues that occurs intermittently during sleep. Long-term recurrent upper airway obstruction and hypoxemia can lead to physical fatigue, memory loss, low work efficiency, etc. It can cause systemic multi-organ damage and serious complications such as heart, brain, liver, kidney, blood system and endocrine system. The disease has become one of the most important diseases threatening modern human health, and it is also a very important risk factor for sudden death. The cause of snoring is still not fully understood, and may be related to obesity, tobacco and alcohol, work stress, endocrine disorders, structural abnormalities of the upper respiratory tract and other chronic diseases. Establishing good lifestyle habits, quitting smoking and alcohol, eating a reasonable diet, controlling weight as well as lying on the side at night and avoiding sedatives can help prevent this disease. Treatment can be based on the condition of the appropriate non-invasive positive pressure ventilator (portable ventilator), of course, it is best to accept the advice of experienced physicians, do not blindly buy, in addition to surgery and oral orthodontic appliances and other methods.
