How to determine the severity of chronic sinusitis

The severity of chronic sinusitis is often judged with reference to clinical symptoms, specialized examination, imaging and other bases.
1. Clinical symptoms: when there is persistent nasal congestion, a large amount of pus, olfactory impairment and more obvious characteristic headache, it indicates that the condition is more serious, and vice versa, the stimulus symptoms are less severe.
2. Specialized examination: lower turbinate atrophy can be seen, but the middle turbinate but obvious edema, hypertrophy or polypoid changes; middle nasal tract narrowing, mucosal edema or polyp formation; the upper part of the nasal cavity has multiple polyps; no signs of atrophic rhinitis, but the middle nasal tract or olfactory fissure is often scabs; sieve bubble enlargement and other characteristics, indicating that the disease is more serious, and vice versa, it is lighter.
3. Imaging: CT examination can show the extent of sinusitis and the degree of mucosal lesions in the nasal cavity and sinuses. The larger the scope of involvement of the lesion and the more serious the mucosal lesion, the more serious the condition is, otherwise it is less serious.
If you suffer from chronic sinusitis, you can actively seek medical treatment and systematic examination to clarify the severity of the disease.
